Hawai'i Pacific Health Selects Stanson Health Alerts and Analytics CDS Solution
Stanson's evidence-based Choosing Wisely® recommendations helps guide providers toward decisions that safely reduce unnecessary care. Coupled with relevant analytics, Stanson's solution supports organizations preparing for risk at the point of care.
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hawai'i Pacific Health, a nonprofit health care organization, announced today an agreement to deploy Stanson Health's alerts and analytics CDS system. Stanson's solutions are integrated in the EMR providing workflow compatible and patient specific guidance to providers in regard to commonly prescribed tests, procedures, labs, and medications that can be avoided thereby improving patient safety while lowering per patient costs.
Stanson Health is a second-generation, population health CDS company. Through the use of clinically tested and validated alerts, Stanson's solution maintains a high positive predictive value unlike other untested CDS solutions that add to physician alert fatigue. Stanson's alerts are based on guidelines published in accordance with the American Board of Internal Medicine's "Choosing Wisely®" campaign with participation of more than 60 medical and subspecialty societies. By actively alerting physicians during patient encounters in both the ambulatory and inpatient settings, Stanson's alerts quickly remind physicians why a particular intervention may not be needed for the specific patient being evaluated. Each day, Stanson's analytics engine compiles provider order data for near real-time analysis on how frequently Choosing Wisely® guidelines were followed or ignored. As physician organizations prepare for payment reform, timely feedback on adherence with evidence-based practice supports healthcare's "triple aim" of improving the safety and quality of care while reducing costs.
Hawai'i Pacific Health is an integrated family of hospitals and doctors whose not-for-profit mission is to provide the highest quality, most accessible medical care to the people of Hawai'i and the Pacific Region. Hawai'i Pacific Health selected Stanson to support our broader aspirations for continued excellence in health care outcomes said Melinda Ashton, MD, sr. vice president and chief quality officer. "As we continue to transform the care we deliver, we need intelligent and EMR compatible workflow tools for our ordering physicians that enable them to provide the best care every day."
