'Having Fun with Words of Wit and Wisdom' Has a Special Ingredient: It's Great Reading!
New, Different Book of Quotations
NEW YORK, May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- A SPECIAL AND DELIGHTFUL TREAT for language-lovers has been created in "Having Fun with Words of Wit and Wisdom" (published by Trafford Publishing), a book of 3,401 quotations compiled by Tom McMorrow, who is not a lexicographer but a writer and theater critic, presenting these literary gems with editorial commentary, sometimes with attitude, and always in a light, humorous tone that critics, scholars and educators have hailed for educating in a uniquely entertaining manner.
The book, which is on sale at Amazon Books, is being used in English classes at Choate Rosemary Hall, alma mater of Adlai Stevenson and John F. Kennedy. It is illustrated by theatrical caricaturist Sam Norkin, who often teamed with author McMorrow for major features in their years at the Daily News.
Reviews, by critic William Wolf, NYU professor and president of The Drama Desk; D.D. Wills, professor of Linguistic Anthropology, California State University, Pomona; Jeff Carlton, Associated Press, Dallas; and Valdon Johnson, professor emeritus of English, University of Northern Iowa, may be found at the website http://www.witandwisdomwords.com
Professor Wolf called the work, compiled over 30 years, "monumental, honed from a lifetime of literary interest"; journalist Carlton praised its sly, persistent humor; and Professors Wills and Johnson lauded it as an invaluable teaching tool as well as simply enjoyable reading matter.
"Having Fun with Words of Wit and Wisdom," in soft cover on 8 1/2 x 11-inch pages to give artist Norkin's creations maximum display, is published by Trafford Publishing of Victoria, British Columbia and Bloomington, Indiana and may also be purchased for $27.45 at http://www.Trafford.com
