Haven for Hope Named a Mutual of America 2011 Community Partnership Award Winner

NEW YORK, Nov. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Mutual of America announced today that Haven for Hope was named a Merit Finalist of the 2011 Community Partnership Award competition.

Between 3,500 and 4,500 individuals experience homelessness each night in San Antonio. Haven for Hope helps address this issue through its 37-acre, 15-building facility that provides more than 150 comprehensive services in one central location. Haven for Hope was created through a partnership between Haven for Hope of Bexar County and more than 80 public, private, social-sector and faith-based campus- and community-based organizations.

In addition to providing 900 beds, the facility offers access to services such as job skills and job training, medical and dental services, substance abuse support, and child care from more than 80 governmental, nonprofit and faith-based agencies. In 2010, more than 400 members "graduated" from Haven for Hope into permanent employment and housing.
