'Hauppauge mySmarthome' Cloud Based Monitor And Control System For Home Automation Introduced At IFA 2014, Berlin, Germany
Hauppauge mySmarthome allows you to monitor your home and control home lighting via a cloud service. Hauppauge mySmarthome uses your existing home network and works with Apple™ and Android™ phones and tablets, plus Macs and PCs.
BERLIN, Sept. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hauppauge has announced its new mySmarthome home monitoring and control kits at IFA 2014, Berlin, Germany. Hauppauge mySmarthome kits allow users to create an electronic, cloud based monitor and control system for their home or apartment.
Hauppauge mySmarthome uses a main controller (often called the 'hub'), which is placed in the home and connects to the home Internet router to wirelessly monitor and control temperature sensors, door sensors, video cameras, infra-red motion sensors, smoke and water sensors plus electric lighting controllers. mySmarthome comes with a cloud based service which can send alerts to their smartphone via e-mail or text messages.
Hauppauge mySmarthome kits include the basic controls and sensors to get started with home automation, and are based on the popular and secure Z-Wave wireless technology which is compatible with hundreds of different Z-Wave monitoring and control devices available throughout Europe and North America.
Alerts via the Hauppauge mySmarthome cloud service
Hauppauge mySmarthome comes with a cloud based service which will send alerts to your smartphone via e-mail or text messages. The mySmarthome alerts can be configured with an easy to use 'rules' system, which allows a user to set up the alerts without the need for programming skills. For example, to be notified that your home door has been opened, a simple rule can be created which says "if the front door sensor is opened, send an e-mail message to [email protected]".
Easy installation
To install the Hauppauge mySmarthome, a user connects the Hauppauge mySmarthome main controller (hub) to their home Internet router. Using a PC or Mac, they would register the mySmarthome main controller with the Hauppauge cloud system. Then, they would connect the plugs and sensors around the home, download the free app for iOS or Android and start controlling and monitoring devices, temperature and motion!
The Hauppauge mySmarthome main controller comes pre-configured for up to 5 Z-Wave devices, but can be expanded to up to 100 devices from the hundreds of available Z-Wave devices on the market today. Future upgrades will support other standards, such as Zigbee.
Two ready-to-go kits: one for monitor and control and one for home security
Hauppauge mySmarthome Control Starter Kit comes with the main controller for Z-Wave devices plus two 'smart' home electric outlet plugs and a 4-in-1 sensor. The 'smart' plugs control lighting or small motors. The 4 in 1 sensor monitors door/window open and close positions, and senses motion, lighting brightness and temperature.
Hauppauge mySmarthome Security Starter Kit comes with the main controller for Z-Wave devices plus a security camera, a smoke detector, a flood detector and a 4-in-1 sensor. The camera is wireless and uses a Wi-Fi network to send video to the mySmarthome main controller while the 4-in-1 sensor monitors door/window open and close positions and senses motion, lighting brightness and temperature.
Once you have chosen where to place the plugs and sensors in your home, you can personalise the device names. These devices can be monitored and controlled from Apple devices such as an iPhone or iPad, Android devices or a Mac or PC.
Apps for Apple and Android devices
Hauppauge mySmarthome comes with free iOS and Android applications. Designed to be simple to use, the mySmarthome application allows you to monitor motion, measure temperature, brightness as well as lets you switch on and off your electronic devices around your home. The application allows you to control wirelessly your home appliances and electronics. Whether you want to turn on a light in your home from your office or switch on the kettle in the kitchen it is all now possible directly from any Apple or Android Smartphone or Tablet.
Why mySmarthome?
"The idea behind mySmarthome came when I tried to automate my own home. I found currently available products frustrating to install and impossible to set up. Hauppauge mySmarthome was designed to be easy to install but reliable, with alerts designed to be sent via text or e-mail. mySmarthome was designed for my home!" said Ken Plotkin, President of Hauppauge Computer Works.
