HashSnap Wins 1st Prize in the "Entrepreneurship Week" Annual Investors' Meeting
TEL AVIV, Israel, November 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
In the annual Entrepreneurs and Investors Event which took place during the international "Entrepreneurship Week" on the Google campus in Tel Aviv, The startup company HashSnap (developer of a dating application that connects people through smart personality) won the first prize in the yearly YourStartApp startup competition.
Hundreds of investors, entrepreneurs and experts gathered at the Google House in Tel Aviv on November 19, 2014, for Google Campus' "Entrepreneurship Week", closing ceremony, which was held in collaboration with a number of organizations including the Orthodox High Tech Forum and YourStartApp. During the event, there were professional panels who discussed various issues such as the integration of ultra-orthodox personnel into high-tech firms and entrepreneurship, the 2014 Entrepreneurship Annual Summary, and tips for raising capital for start-ups.
Three finalists were selected from among dozens of candidates for the final round of the startup competition:
- Vitaly Freydovicz, CEO and co-founder, HelixOS: "We are developing a security solution focusing on information security for the Android Operating System. We secure the operating system itself by intervening and hardening the operating system's layers. We have already installed it in a security body and we are headed to the commercial market soon. In fact, we replace the existing Operating System with our system. Currently we are also looking for investors and distributors for our solution."
- Udi Herschler, CEO and founder, Humaney: "We are developing a cooperative information system in the field which connects information and people. It is very appropriate to link patients or people who have acquired knowledge from personal experience with illness or other matters of any kind that is of interest to people around the world, though they have never met previously.
Here, the entire data arena becomes interactive and dynamic, one in which people from around the world who are interested in a particular topic, join the same group just because of their mutual interest in the subject.
The system exists and works online and offline and we are now in the final stages of the beta development. We have cooperation with Wikipedia. We are headed towards additional collaboration and are recruiting and searching for an investment".
- Oded Vakrat, Founder and CEO, HashSnap: "We connect people to each other. It is mostly for dating reasons. The App identifies the people standing next to you, in a radius that you determine. You can get information about this person, personal information derived from images, but not only from appearances. The focus is on the participant's personal circle of acquaintances.
The application defines a daily topic every day and identifies people uploading photos in real time with respect to the same subject. That way you can learn about them in everyday life and not just from a vague profile on Facebook. It builds their personality in a cumulative manner.
We are appealing to the US market, which is a heavy user of dating sites but lacks the necessary degree of authenticity in the personal identification of a person with whom you want to connect. We are planning to start on a beta version at 4 universities in the US ".
After evaluating the projects, the panel of judges awarded First Prize to HashSnap.
Yisrael Gross chairman of YourStartApp: "In the last year we have produced four events to promote Israeli startups to investors worldwide. We always bring together investors and entrepreneurs in the same event.
We have also joined forces with the Ultra-Orthodox high-tech entrepreneurs, because the benefit that employers get from hiring Ultra-Orthodox staff is high, due to the strong work ethic of this sector. In about four months we will set up an Orthodox accelerator in Bnei-Brak with several partners. This accelerator will provide solutions to Ultra-Orthodox entrepreneurs, who will be able to act in their home environment, just as they are starting out, and will receive the appropriate solutions to their particular needs.
As part of our activities we have also organized a competition in this event, which comes at the end of the 2014 Entrepreneurship Week. Here, we present the best among the many competing startups, and they will receive, besides the prizes, a very broad international exposure."
