The "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" project was one of the largest ever, and the team that made it happen was not deterred by the earthquake or hurricane that coincided with the build schedule. Now that all the final numbers have been tallied, Schell Brothers announced that over 300 sponsors were involved in the project, and it was the community involvement that made it happen. The outpouring of support for the Dunning family and their mission to serve those in need with their unique soup kitchen outreach has been remarkable.
Schell Brothers established an endowment fund to help the family manage the cost of maintaining the home many years into the future. At the time of the reveal, Chris Schell, President of Schell Brothers, announced that the amount of the endowment had reached $300,000. A significant portion of this amount was attributable to the top financial contributor, Harvest Garden Pro, which donated $50,000 in cash while also providing mulch for the landscaping. "We are thrilled to help support the local community and beautify landscapes with top quality soils and mulches," said Joe Kollock, Co-President of Harvest Garden Pro. "This project has been a great community effort."
Harvest Garden Pro operates a robust, award-winning network of manufacturing facilities for bagged soils, mulches and stone that sells to customers such as Lowe's and The Home Depot. Each year its products and services support over one million gardens throughout 14 states.
