Harvard Business Review and the New England Journal of Medicine Launch Second Online Forum on Health Care Innovation
BOSTON, Nov. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Harvard Business Review (HBR) and the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) have launched a second installment of the Leading Health Care Innovation Insight Center, an eight-week online forum dedicated to helping leaders, managers, and other decision makers in health care improve patient outcomes and lower the cost of care.
The Insight Center, which is sponsored by Medtronic, will run through December 15 and offers daily posts, peer-reviewed reports, and interactive content on topics such as leadership, strategy, organizational design, and talent management. Articles will examine specific tactics being applied in health care systems today to reduce costs and improve quality.
At 12 p.m. EST today, the Insight Center will host a free webinar, "How Not to Cut Health Care Costs," led by Professor Robert Kaplan and Derek Haas of Harvard Business School. The webinar will explore why some efforts to reduce healthcare costs are counterproductive, actually leading to higher costs and sometimes lower-quality care.
"Health care is at a turning point in the U.S. and throughout the world," said Adi Ignatius, Editor in Chief of Harvard Business Review. "We're pleased to again provide a forum where leaders from across health care, business, and academia can share their most innovative ideas and best practices."
"Because health care represents 20 percent of the American economy, it needs careful management to maximize value," said Gregory D. Curfman, M.D., Executive Editor of NEJM. "The Insight Center is aimed at this important objective."
