Hartland Village Mart Supports Lake Country Rotary And Lake Country Foundation Nixon Park Splash Pad Project
"Be A Star. Buy A Star." Campaign Kicks Off at Hartland CITGO to Raise Funds for the Aquatic Play Area
HARTLAND, Wis., Aug. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- CITGO Hartland Village Mart and CITGO Petroleum Corporation are teaming up with the Lake Country Rotary and Lake Country Foundation to raise funds for the construction of a community splash pad, an interactive aquatic play area, in Nixon Park. From Aug. 15 through Aug. 31, customers can purchase $1 and $5 paper "stars" at CITGO Hartland Village Mart. All proceeds from the "Be A Star. Buy A Star." campaign will be donated directly to the splash pad project. The goal is to raise $70,000 by the end of autumn in an effort to provide a free, safe and wheelchair-accessible activity for Waukesha County children and families by the summer of 2013.
"This project is such an important one for all of us here in Waukesha County, and we appreciate all of the support we've received from CITGO Hartland Village Mart, the Lake Country Rotary Club, the Kiwanis of Greater Hartland, the Lake Country Foundation and our community," said Michael Kaiser, member of the Lake Country Rotary Club and the driving force behind the splash pad fundraising effort. "With the help from the Village Mart and CITGO, we believe we can make it to our goal of $300,000. That means our community will have more ways to enjoy a safe and affordable summer activity with the whole family by 2013."
The "zero depth" splash pad will be a wheelchair-accessible play area appropriate for people of all ages. It will spray water across the "pad" and offer an entertaining way to cool down during hot summer months.
The "Be A Star. Buy A Star." campaign will allow residents of Waukesha County to donate as little or as much as they would like to the splash pad project by coming into CITGO Hartland Village Mart located at 301 E Capitol Drive in downtown Hartland. The progress of the campaign will be monitored by the fundraising thermometer in downtown Hartland. Members of the community are also encouraged to visit the Lake Country Rotary Splash Pad website to learn more about the project.
"I am very excited to be a part of this effort," said Mike Badani, the owner and operator of CITGO Hartland Village Mart. "As a grandfather and a local business owner, I'm really looking forward to having a new –– and most important — safe, summer activity for all of the families in Waukesha County and the surrounding areas, including my own."
To date, the Lake Country Foundation and the Lake Country Rotary have raised a total of $230,000 for the project, and the Kiwanis of Greater Hartland have committed to building two pavilions to compliment the splash pad. Now, CITGO Hartland Village Mart has joined the effort by working directly with the Hartland community to make the final push toward the $300,000 fundraising goal. In addition to funds raised during the "Be A Star. Buy A Star." campaign, Mr. Badani has committed a donation of $.01 per gallon purchased at the Hartland Village CITGO during the months of June and July.
