Hart Energy Sets Agenda; Speakers for DUG Canada
Inaugural event will examine tight oil and gas resources
HOUSTON, March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Murray Nunns, president and CEO, PennWest Exploration, and Michael Rose, president and CEO, Tourmaline Oil Corp., will address energy professionals at Hart Energy's Developing Unconventionals (DUG™) Canada conference and exhibition, June 18-20, at the TELUS Convention Centre, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The event is presented jointly with the Canadian Society for Unconventional Resources.
Nunns will present "Cardium Formation - West Central Alberta." His company holds more than 650,000 acres of land prospective for light gravity, tight oil in the Cardium Formation, and has been successful applying horizontal drilling and multi-stage fracture stimulation technologies.
"Multiple Cretaceous Age Targets (Deep Basin) - Western Alberta" will be Rose's topic. Tourmaline Oil holds a dominant land position of nearly 800,000 net acres in the Deep Basin region and has been a leading natural gas producer using vertical wells with multiple production zones.
Other industry speakers on the agenda to date include:
- Dana Johnson, president, USA Operations, Enerplus Corp.
- Jim Stannard, senior vice president, development, Progress Energy Resources Corp.
- Ron Bailey, vice president, natural gas, Canada, Nexen, Inc.
- Tom Alexander, general manager, SWN Resources Canada
- Jon Noad, manager of exploration, Murphy Oil Corp.
- Peter Tertzakian, chief economist, ARC Financial Corp.
DUG Canada will examine the depth and breadth of Canada's new unconventional plays — Montney, Cardium, Bakken, Exshaw, and Duvernay — as many operators tilt their portfolios toward light oil and liquids-rich gas targets. New-generation drilling and completion technologies have opened fresh opportunities across the country. Eastern Canada also boasts unconventional resource riches, with programs in such plays as the Frederick Brook, Green Point and Utica shales.
