Harrison College named 'Military Friendly School' by G.I. Jobs
Harrison College earns title for fourth consecutive year
INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- G.I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has awarded Harrison College (www.harrison.edu) the designation of "Military Friendly School" for the fourth consecutive year. The 2013 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America's military service members and veterans as students.
In its effort to help student veterans find the right school, G.I. Jobs incorporated a survey of student veterans for the first time. This feedback provides prospective military students with insight into the student veteran experience at a particular institution based on peer reviews from current students. Student veteran survey feedback can be viewed at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com/mfslist.aspx.
Service members and veterans can meet individual student veterans from Harrison College virtually on the website, to learn more about the college and how it helped those students transition from the military to an academic environment.
Harrison College is engaged in a wide variety of initiatives that benefit current military service members, veterans, and their spouses and dependents. Some of their military initiatives and credentials include:
- Formation of a Military Advisory Board
- Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) member
- Concurrent Admissions Program for Army Enlistees (ConAP) participant
- Military Experience Credit granted based on American Council on Education (ACE)
- Financial Aid Analysts who specialize in Veteran Affairs benefits
- Flexible Military Withdrawal policy for service members who are deployed
- Military Task Force members assigned to each campus
- Creation of a Spouse and Dependent Scholarship
"Harrison College is extremely proud to have been named a 'Military Friendly School' for the fourth consecutive year," Jason Konesco, Harrison College President, said. "Military servicemembers – as well as their spouses and dependents – make tremendous sacrifices for our country. As an institution of higher learning, we're grateful for their service and, in turn, want to provide them with the unparalleled level of service that they deserve."
