Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has received a $4.7 million order from the Government of Canada for Falcon III® AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radios and RF-7800B tactical satellite communication systems. The systems will provide Canada's armed forces with next-generation tactical communications in support of network-enabled applications such as video and collaborative chat.
Harris is providing Canada with both the AN/PRC-117G wideband radio system and RF-7800B Broadband Global Area Networking (BGAN) satellite terminals. Integration of the AN/PRC-117G with the Harris RF-7800B terminals will provide Canadian personnel with unique end-to-end, Type-1 secure beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) wideband communications connectivity. The order was received by Harris in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011.
"The AN/PRC-117G and RF-7800B will provide Canada's military with new communications capabilities that will lead to enhanced command and control and situational awareness," said Andy Start, president, international business unit, Harris RF Communications. "This is another illustration of Harris growing capability to deliver reliable, rugged and secure systems that address challenging requirements for communications.
