Harris Corporation Receives $16 Million Order to Provide U.S. Army With Falcon III AN/PRC-117G Multiband Manpack Tactical Radios

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has received a $16 million order from the U.S. Army for Falcon III® AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radios systems.
The Army is acquiring the AN/PRC-117G radios as part of its transition to a networked digital battlefield. The AN/PRC-117G features a software-defined, upgradeable platform for both voice and data that supports network-enabled missions such as convoy tracking, mission operations planning and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC).

The AN/PRC-117G is a JTRS Software Communications Architecture-certified, NSA Type-1 certified wideband manpack radio system. With its fully integrated and NSA-certified High Assurance Internet Protocol Equipment (HAIPE) networking encryption, the AN/PRC-117G provides the highest level of information assurance to tactical units.
The development of the AN/PRC-117G manpack radio has followed the U.S. Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) program's Enterprise Business Model (EBM). The EBM encourages companies to develop next-generation solutions in tactical communications using their own investment capital. In doing so, the EBM encourages competition, increases innovation, reduces costs and speeds development of important capabilities.
