First responders and military personnel are also invited to present their IDs to enjoy a free meal at the Paula Deen Buffet throughout the Memorial Day holiday, Friday through Monday, May 30. Harrah's Tunica is the third and final area casino owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment to reopen after being temporarily closed for the first time in history due to the recent Mississippi River flooding.
Workers are busy cleaning up debris from the flood waters and decorating the casino grounds in a Memorial Day theme complete with more than 2,000 American flags, including two 50 by 100-foot American flags painted on the levee that protected Harrah's non-gaming operations and Tunica farmland from the flood waters. First responders and military personnel are invited to wear their uniforms and join Caesars HEROs in the HEROs Across Harrah's human chain at the appreciation ceremony beginning at 1 p.m. Friday.
After the ceremony, the casino will be officially open to the public and all first responders and civil and military service personnel along with one guest are invited to a special thank you luncheon at the Paula Deen Buffet on the second floor of Harrah's.
Upon entry into the reopened casino guests will receive American flags and commemorative 2011 flood t-shirts.
"After literally washing the mud and debris from our parking lots, we are going to wash Harrah's Tunica in the red, white, and blue of the American flag. We want to show our appreciation to those in our communities who serve and protect on a daily basis and especially during crisis situations such as the flood we have all experienced here in the Mid-South. We are looking forward to honoring those who serve and hope that all first responders and civil and military service personnel in the area will join us for the ceremony and for a wonderful meal at the Paula Deen Buffet during the Memorial Day weekend," said R. Scott Barber, regional president, Caesars Mid-South.
