LOS ANGELES, Aug. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Trilogy Studios is proud to announce that Harold and the Purple Crayon is at the top of the iPad Book App Chart as it resonates with young readers tapping into the first of their Touch series of digital storybooks. This timeless classic by Crockett Johnson is about the world a curious four-year-old boy creates by simply drawing it with a purple crayon. Designed for children two to six-years-old and up, young readers interact with the book using the touch pad to help tell the story. Children will discover their own unique take on this popular children's book as magical elements are waiting to be found on every page.

The Trilogy Touch series allows children of all ages and their parents the chance to read and play along with their favorite children's stories and animated films on all digital devices. Children are encouraged to participate and craft their own experiences. They are seamlessly engaged and having fun while expanding their reading comprehension.
These novel interactive storybooks feature three distinct modes, engaging both parents and children in the interactive experience. "Touch Tale" is the signature mode a child's interaction and exploration are required to tell the story. "Read To Me" allows toddlers to listen to the story, focusing on vocabulary building and word recognition. In "Read Alone," new readers or parents can experience the traditional book.
"Our Trilogy Touch interactive storybooks are designed to be lean forward experiences, encouraging children to actively explore these storylines on their own," said Michael Pole, co-founder and CEO of Trilogy Studios. "We want them to reach beyond the words and illustrations on the page and tap into their fertile imaginations where real learning takes place."
Harold and The Purple Crayon will be followed by two more interactive storybooks this summer: Universal Pictures Despicable Me and Penguin Books, Lady Bug Girl. Pole added, "We're excited to be working with these enormously successful properties and look forward to sharing a wide range of interactive experiences on all digital devices."
"With Trilogy Touch we can enhance the young readers book experience by animating stories to life in a way that a child imagines them when reading," said John Carls, a Los Angeles-based independent producer and writer who has produced a number of popular children's books movies including "Where The Wild Things Are" and "Rango" with Johnny Depp as well as the children's television series, "Little Bear." "I'm pleased to be working with Trilogy on the wonderful book series, "Harold," and bringing other great children's classic books to life with this exciting new technology."
The Harold and the Purple Crayon iPad App is available for $6.99 from the App Store or at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/harold-and-the-purple-crayon/id450829541?mt=8. It will soon be available on the iPhone and Android platforms.
