BOSTON, July 10, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kathy Harney, Community Relations Specialist for Gentle Giant Moving Company in Somerville, was named the recipient of the Greater Boston Association of REALTORS® (GBAR) Affiliate Member of the Year Award at the Annual Awards Brunch held on June 25, 2015 at the Oakley Country Club in Watertown. Kathy has been an Affiliate Member of GBAR since 2013, and has actively supported the Association in many ways since then.
The Affiliate Member of the Year award was created to acknowledge the involvement of industry product and service providers for their active participation in GBAR programs and activities, and for their general support of the association, its mission, and the REALTOR® membership.
Harney has been instrumental in the growth of the Annual GBAR "Furnish the Future" furniture drive that supports the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless (MCH). Donated furniture is picked up from all over the Metro Boston area and delivered to the Coalition's furniture bank in Lynn, where families that are making the transition from homelessness into permanent housing can select items to fill their new home. Kathy plays a large part in the coordination of the moving trucks and ensuring that the line of communication is open between the movers as well as the MCH. The furniture drive will run again this November 10 and 11.
The Greater Boston Association of REALTORS® is a private trade association with more than 7,000 REALTOR® members who specialize in residential real estate in Eastern Massachusetts. GBAR is the largest of five divisions of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB), and a local chapter of the Massachusetts and National Associations of REALTORS® (NAR). REALTOR® is a federally-registered trademark reserved exclusively for members of NAR.
