SAN FRANCISCO, May 2, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Harness, the industry's first Continuous Delivery-as-a-Service platform, today announced that John Bonney has joined as Chief Financial Officer to scale the company's finance and accounting function. Bonney, a highly accomplished high-growth startup finance leader, brings to Harness over 20 years of finance and operating experience in the software space with a proven track record of helping companies accelerate growth and achieve scale.
Bonney most recently oversaw rapid growth as the CFO at Mapbox as well as FinancialForce, the latter quadrupling revenues to over $100M during his tenure. Prior to that, he was the Division CFO of the Cloud Business unit at SAP where he oversaw over $1 billion of Cloud revenues across multiple business units, products, and geographies. Bonney joined SAP from Ariba as a senior finance executive who helped drive rapid expansion and ultimately the sale of Ariba to SAP for $4.3 billion.
"Harness ticks every single box for me: amazing product, raving customers who keep expanding their use of Harness, huge market, and an incredibly experienced, focused executive team aligned on revenue," said Bonney. "When you have such a perfect storm of product excellence, addressable market, and a rock-solid culture, I know I've found the perfect home."
"I'm thrilled to have John join the executive team and add his experience to Harness," said Jyoti Bansal, Harness co-founder & CEO. "As we blow past this year's revenue targets, we'll need someone with John's experience to prepare us for our next growth milestones."
John's hire comes on the heels of an impressive several months for Harness:
- In April the company raised a $60M Series B round from new investors IVP, GV, and ServiceNow Ventures, as well as existing investors Menlo, Unusual, and BIG Labs.
- Harness has recently won multiple industry awards including being part of the Cloud Award Winners, the 2018 Barclays Innovation Challenge, and 2019 "Breakout List" as a "Hot Company to Work For."
- Harness announced that it has joined the Continuous Delivery Foundation (CDF), a new foundation launched by the Linux Foundation in March 2019 to support collaboration around continuous delivery.
- Harness announced that it has teamed with Amazon Web Services (AWS) as well as the Google Cloud Platform to bring Continuous Delivery-as-a-Service to Kubernetes applications running in the public cloud.
Harness was founded by Jyoti Bansal — former CEO and founder of AppDynamics, an application monitoring company acquired by Cisco for $3.7B in 2017 — and Rishi Singh, a former DevOps platform architect at Apple. Since launching from stealth in October 2017, Harness has experienced tremendous growth and helped dozens of customers such as McAfee, Home Depot, SoulCycle, Bank of Santander, NCR, and Beachbody significantly improve their ability to deliver software changes in modern cloud and container architectures. Customers typically see immediate gains with Harness: reduction in deployment times from many weeks to just a few hours, reduction of deployment-related errors by 95-99% percent, and a 3-4x increase in DevOps team efficiency.
