Harlem Globetrotters Open First Extended Run Ever at Silver Dollar City in Branson
BRANSON, Mo., June 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Starring in a summer-long festival, the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters are tipping off their first extended run ever, presenting 6 weeks of shows at Silver Dollar City, an 1880s theme park in the famed entertainment town of Branson, Missouri. The American icons and legendary world-touring team, with an 89-year tradition of family entertainment, exhibit their trademark basketball wizardry in a production show created exclusively for the theme park.
The Globetrotter Experience is the centerpiece of a festival called Star-Spangled Summer, and utilizes a 4-story video screen, effects and a specially-designed half basketball court, with players incorporating athleticism and humor into the show.
"With the global popularity of the Harlem Globetrotters, who are Guinness World Record holders and international basketball legends, The Globetrotter Experience is a unique opportunity for kids and families to see this first-of-its-kind show," said Brad Schroeder, Silver Dollar City's Vice President of Entertainment & Events. "Combined with our new Fireman's Landing area with 10 new attractions, this is our biggest family year ever."
In 2013, The Harlem Globetrotters became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Silver Dollar City's parent company, Herschend Family Entertainment. Throughout their history, the Globetrotters have entertained more than 140 million guests, playing more than 25,000 games on six continents, including 122 countries.
Star-Spangled Summer runs through July 19, with the park open daily through the summer. For information: 800-831-4FUN(386) or www.silverdollarcity.com.
