Happy New Year: EAT24 Makes Eating Healthy Not Terrible
Ordering healthy delivery is possible with EAT24's new "Healthy" feature.
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- EAT24, the Internet's favorite way to order food online, has just released a new feature designed to filter Healthy dinner options for those looking to eat better, but still don't have time to cook. Released just in time for New Year's Resolutions, EAT24's new filter helps users find healthy foods for pickup or delivery at the best local restaurants.
"We were sick of people giving delivery food a bad name," says EAT24 co-founder Nadav Sharon. "Not everything on the takeout menu is deep-fried and wrapped in bacon. There's grilled salmon in there too, as well as vegetarian, vegan and even gluten free options. You just have to know where to look. Our 'Healthy' filter does that for you."
EAT24's new feature takes the time and guesswork out of finding the healthy options on a menu. Developers worked with nutritionists and data scientists to create a specialized algorithm that identifies healthy menu items. Pink heart icons indicate which dishes are better for you, and they are visible across all EAT24 apps as well as EAT24.com. A tap of the "Healthy" button displays only dishes that have been identified as healthy, and can be turned on and off.
"We believe you deserve to have your food brought straight to your couch no matter if you're ordering cheese fries, or a kale salad," says Nadav. "Of course, if you do a pickup order and walk to the restaurant instead, you'll burn calories too. Boom. Ordering online is basically like crossfit."
