EASTON, Md., Dec. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A fair amount of change has occurred around Faulkner's U-Haul and Mini-Storage in the last 40 years.

What hasn't changed is where the people of Talbot County can go to have their moving and storage needs met.
"We go out of our way," Faulkner's manager Val Prochaska said. "If somebody makes a reservation and we don't have the truck, we'll go get the truck. The people who live here expect to find something here in town."
Faulkner's U-Haul and Mini-Storage celebrated its 40th anniversary as a U-Haul® dealer on Nov. 25. In doing so, it became the 101st neighborhood dealer to reach 40 years of U-Haul affiliation.
Faulkner's is located at 29316 Dover Road in Easton, Md. It is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; Saturday 8 a.m.-noon; and Sunday 8 a.m.-10 a.m. Reserve U-Haul items here by visiting http://www.uhaul.com/Locations/Truck-Rentals-near-Easton-MD today.
Faulkner's has been at the same locale for four decades, although it no longer features the service station it had for 35 years. Bobby Faulkner has been the owner for the lifespan of the business. Robin Murphy assists with the day-to-day operations.
"Beyond meeting a need, Bobby was sort of an accidental businessman," Prochaska said. "His father-in-law set him up to take over a gas station on a major highway and U-Haul seemed like a natural fit. Bobby has a good way with people. He's a people person."
Easton, a 70-mile trek from Washington, D.C., has clung to its 17th century roots and Colonial architecture while accommodating a diverse economic population. There is a thriving arts community and a number of local events, including the renowned Waterfowl Festival.
The image of Talbot County has grown with the times. It boasts more than 600 miles of Chesapeake Bay shorefront – the most shorefront of any U.S. county. The town of St. Michaels, Easton's neighbor, has been packaged as a sailor's haven, a quiet and quaint version of The Hamptons where Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and other notable D.C. names have purchased second homes.
The business landscape has changed around Faulkner's, too. U-Haul Moving & Storage of Easton opened recently, making it more difficult for Faulkner's to attract new U-Haul clients in the area. But most of Faulkner's repeat customers maintain their loyalty.
"Sometimes people walk in and say, 'Yeah, I rented from you guys 16 years ago,'" Prochaska said.
With a little luck, Faulkner's U-Haul and Mini-Storage will be around another 40 years.
