Hannover House to Launch "Asalto Al Cine" to USA Theatres
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Hannover House, the entertainment division of Target Development Group, Inc., (TDGI.PK), has set February 17, 2012 as the U.S. Theatrical launch date for the acclaimed Mexican drama, "Asalto Al Cine" ("The Cinema Hold Up"). Featured in competition at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, the film marks the feature debut of director Iria Gomez Concheiro, a promising new voice in the Nuevo Cine Mexicano movement. Ms. Concheiro recently attended the New York Latino International Film Festival on behalf of Hannover House and her film, and will be assisting with the publicity and promotional campaigns for the movie's U.S. release.
"Asalto Al Cine" tells the story of a group of restless Mexican teens, who decide that robbing a local movie theatre would be their ticket to happier lives. Instead, they discover that everything they held as precious is lost in the aftermath of their otherwise successful robbery. The film offers an insightful and philosophical look at disenfranchised teens in Mexico and their quest for a simpler path to a better future.
Similarly themed, recent film releases from Mexico include "Amores Perros" ($5.4-mm USA Box Office) and "Biutiful" ($5.1-mm USA Box Office). All time top-performing films in the Nueveo Cine Mexicano movement including "Como Agua Para Chocolate" ("Like Water for Chocolate") with $21.6-mm at the USA Box Office, and "Y Tu Mama Tambien" with $13.8-mm at the USA Box Office).
Hannover House will release "Asalto Al Cine" in top markets across the country, including an initial launch into New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas-Ft. Worth, San Diego and Denver.
