Hannover House Targets Awards Season for "Cook County" and "Toys in the Attic"
NEW YORK, Aug. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Hannover House, the entertainment division of Target Development Group, Inc. (Pinksheets: TDGI), will make its first foray into awards competition this fall with campaigns supporting the acclaimed drama, "Cook County" and the animated masterpiece, "Toys in the Attic." Both films will enjoy limited, qualifying theatrical releases in the fourth quarter, with expanded theatrical schedules set for January and February, 2012.
"Cook County" is a gritty and explosive journey into the dangerous world of meth addicts and dealers in eastern Texas. The award winning drama from director David Pomes features a powerful lead performance by actor Anson Mount that Hannover House feels is among the year's best. Mount is expected to rise significantly in star stature following a high-profile media campaign by AMC Television for his new primetime series, "Hell On Wheels," launching November 5th. Hannover House believes that his performance in "Cook County" will resonate with audiences and critics, and put him on a short list for a variety of Best Actor competitions.
"Toys in the Attic" is a visually-stunning, stop-motion animated feature from Czech director Jiri Barta, that won the New York International Children's Film Festival last year, in its original, Czech-language version with English subtitles. Hannover House and Eurocine International have begun re-recording and re-voicing the film into English, and plan to pursue several awards opportunities. The English language talent includes three major stars, to be announced in September along with theatrical release details.
Key awards competitions that Hannover House will be pursuing include the Academy Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards. Specialty public relations teams have been engaged to help support the competition strategies for both films, and will work in tandem with the existing advertising and publicity teams for the initial releases.
"The fall release season looks very exciting for us," said Eric Parkinson, C.E.O. of Hannover House and Target Development Group, Inc. "In addition to the robust sales activities with our various video and V.O.D. releases, to have several awards-worthy films in release provides a terrific balance and long-term upside for the company. We're honored to be distributing both of these notable films, and hope that the voting members of the various competitions share our enthusiasm."
