NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Hankook Tire America Corp., the leading and one of the fastest growing tire companies in the world, continued its partnership with DAV (Disabled American Veterans) by doubling the number of Hankook-sponsored DAV Mobile Service Office (MSO) stops this year to have an even greater impact on the veteran community. The Hankook-DAV MSO stops provided free services to 172 veterans and their families this year—a 47 percent increase over the number of veterans serviced last year.
As part of Hankook's 2016 partnership with DAV and ongoing commitment to helping people through mobility, Hankook hosted the four DAV MSO stops this year at partnering tire dealerships, bringing free services—like VA disability claims assistance—directly to local veterans. As a result of the four Hankook sponsored MSO stops in Arizona, Tennessee and Pennsylvania, DAV's claims specialists conducted 172 interviews and helped veterans and their families file 87 claims. This year's Hankook-DAV MSO stops included Discount Tire in Phoenix, on Sept. 14; Gateway Tire in Gallatin, Tenn. on Sept. 15; Gateway Tire in Clarksville, Tenn. on Sept. 16; and CJ's Tire in Birdsboro on Oct. 12.
"As a committed partner of DAV, Hankook is proud to have expanded its MSO sponsorship this year to include four locations, and to have been able to provide even more veterans and their families with the services they need in their hometown," said Hee-Se Ahn, President, Hankook Tire America Corp. "The support of local Hankook tire dealers like Discount Tire, Gateway Tire and CJ's Tire to host these stops is greatly appreciated as we continue to work together to provide the veteran community with access to important services where they live."
The purpose of the national DAV MSO program is to bring DAV's claims specialists to veterans in their local community, which helps to reduce the distance that veterans need to travel in order to receive help in obtaining the VA and other benefits and services that they need to live higher quality lives. Last year, DAV MSOs traveled more than 100,000 miles to 879 cities to help veterans and their families.
"We're honored to have the continued support of a valuable partner like Hankook Tire who helps us to better fulfill our promise to serve America's veterans and their families," said DAV National Adjutant and CEO Marc Burgess. "Through our 2016 partnership, Hankook enhanced the lives of veterans across the country, and this commitment to helping the veteran community speaks volumes about the people who comprise their great organization."
As part of Hankook's 2016 partnership with DAV, Hankook sponsored 10 of DAV's RecruitMilitary veteran job fairs across the country, co-sponsored all five of the Cincinnati Reds' Military Appreciation Day baseball games, participated in the DAV National Convention and will be sponsoring the DAV 5K Atlanta on Nov. 5.
