Hangzhou Celebrates Lunar New Year at Universal Studios Hollywood
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 13, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV and Tourism's long-awaited event - Hangzhou's Showtime - celebrated Lunar New Year from February 9th-10th, 2019, at Universal Studios Hollywood theme park in Southern California.
As the first city to jointly collaborate on Chinese Lunar New Year Festivities with Universal Studios Hollywood, Hangzhou hosted 'Hangzhou's Showtime', a festivity that conveyed the city's diversified character through a wide range of shows and activities for the prominent Chinese holiday and as a demonstration of the city's profound culture and history.
Hangzhou's Showtime was featured at three locations within the theme park. A Fair to Remember at West Lake invited guests to take selfies with the adorable Chinese classic fairytale couple - Xu Xian and Bai Suzhen.
Hangzhou Theatre combined the tranquility as well as the vitality of Hangzhou, entwined Hangzhou's astonishing culture with four grand performances of the East, and dazzled all the visitors at the theme park, culminating a festive Lunar New Year with a pastiche of Chinese musical numbers and opera performances.
A central highlight of the event was the Grand Canal Culture Club, with multiple calligraphy workshops and bamboo basket demonstrations taking place each day. Guests proudly shared their creations of Lunar New Year, and the top calligraphy participants got to take home a Hangzhou Bamboo Basket made by the master, Hong Liping.
The event was equally popular on Hangzhou's official Facebook page, as fans from around the world engaged with the event virtually.
Among all precious tourism resources, the commission proudly emphasized the prominent Liangzhu culture and the two UNESCO cultural heritage sites in Hangzhou - The Grand Canal and West Lake - to friends from around the globe. The event put fans in a time machine on a 5,000 year journey of Hangzhou, manifesting the rich tourism resources of Hangzhou online and offline.
