Hanes and The Salvation Army Team Up to Launch Fourth Annual Sock Drive
Socks and Food to Provide Comfort and Warmth on LA's Skid Row
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Hanes and The Salvation Army kick-off their fourth annual sock drive, distributing warms socks and food to those who need it most on LA's Skid Row. This year's sock drive will elevate the brand's total donation to 2.2 million socks to date. Joining these efforts is local California homeless advocate and founder of InvisiblePeople.TV, Mark Horvath. Mark helps distribute Hanes socks throughout the year to those affected by homelessness.
According to the Institute for the Study of Homelessness and Poverty at the Weingart Center, an estimated 254,000 men, women and children experience homelessness in Los Angeles County during some part of the year, with approximately 82,000 people left homeless on any given night.
