LOS ANGELES, Sept. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief today announced additional beneficiaries in the wake of Hurricane Irma's devastation. The one-hour telethon special, which will raise the much needed funds to aid those affected by both Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, will air live and commercial free on Tuesday, September 12 at 8:00pmEDT/7:000pmCDT and re-air at 8:00pmPDT on the West Coast.
Hand in Hand charitable partners include the Rebuild Texas Fund, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children, Feeding Florida, Feeding Texas, Direct Relief, ASPCA, Best Friends Animal Society, United Way of Greater Houston, United Way Irma Recovery Fund and the Mayor's Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief (administered through the Greater Houston Community Foundation.) More charitable partners may be announced as the needs for those affected by Hurricane Irma are further evaluated. Comic Relief USA will be responsible for collecting donations in addition to managing and distributing grants through the Hand in Hand Hurricane Relief Fund.
Hand in Hand will be available in the U.S. on ABC, BET, Bravo, CBS, CMT, E!, FOX, HBO, HBO Latino, MTV, MTV2, MTV Live, MTV Classic NBC, Oxygen and Univision. Live streaming options will be available in both the US and internationally via AOL.com, Apple Music, ATTN:, Facebook, HuffPost, Twitter, YouTube and Yahoo.com starting at 8:00pmEDT during the first broadcast. Audio broadcasts will also be available through Apple Music's Beats 1 and across Cumulus/Westwood One, iHeartMedia and SiriusXM channels.
Hand in Hand is being generously underwritten by the Michael & Susan Dell foundation, Verizon and Apple. The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation has announced it will also be matching the first $10 million donated, dollar for dollar, to the Rebuild Texas Fund during the telethon. Verizon is also generously donating the 3,000 call center volunteers who will be stationed across the country.
Digital, text and phone donations will all be accepted. Supporters can call 1-800-258-6000 to donate by credit card, calls are toll free in the US and Canada. Viewers also have the option to make a $25 donation to the Hand in Hand Hurricane Relief Fund by simply texting "GIVE" to 80077 on their mobile phones. Phone lines will be open at the beginning of the broadcast and remain open indefinitely after the broadcast concludes.
