FORT WORTH, Texas, July 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Carlile Bancshares, Inc., of Fort Worth, Texas is pleased to announce that Kent R. Hance has been elected to its Board of Directors.
Since December of 2006, Mr. Hance has served as Chancellor of the Texas Tech University System. In addition to elevating the university's system to its highest historic enrollment, and spearheading a capital campaign which raised over $1 billion for the university, Hance has also taught his own upper-level Leadership class.
In October 2013, Mr. Hance announced his retirement as Chancellor, effective July 2014, at which time he will become Chancellor Emeritus of the Texas Tech University Systems. He intends to return to his Austin law firm of Hance Scarborough, LLP; where in addition to his administration law practice, he provides an extensive background in oil and gas and energy-related law.
Hance has a long and distinguished history of public service, first serving as a State Senator, and later as a U.S. Congressman for the 19th District, where he passed President Reagan's tax cut in 1981, the largest in the history of the nation. Hance also served on the Texas Railroad Commission from 1987 – 1991, serving as its Chairman in 1989-1990.
A native of Dimmitt, Texas, Hance holds a BBA degree from Texas Tech University and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He and his wife, Susie, who is also an attorney, will reside in Austin. They have five children and seven grandchildren.
