Hammacher Schlemmer Introduces The Portable Smartphone Printer

NEW YORK, March 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing its 166-year history of offering the Best, the Only and the Unexpected, Hammacher Schlemmer introduces The Portable Smartphone Printer, a palm-sized wireless device that prints pictures from a smartphone.

"The Portable Smartphone Printer can be carried in a pocket and allows users to instantly print 2" x 3" photographs at a moment's notice, without transferring the pictures to a computer," explained Hammacher Schlemmer's General Manager Fred Berns.

The printer uses Bluetooth to access pictures on an iPhone (NFC for Android devices) and prints color photos in less than a minute. A free app allows users to center, caption, and add filters or borders to pictures prior to printing them at 640 x 1,224 dpi.

The Portable Smartphone Printer uses patented paper embedded with yellow, magenta, and cyan dye crystals to produce rich, vibrant photographs that are waterproof and resist fingerprints, dust, and scratches.

"Since the printer uses ink-embedded paper, users do not have to worry about changing ink cartridges when travelling with the device," explained Mr. Berns.

The printer produces up to 20 prints after a 1½ -hour charge via the included micro USB adapter, it includes 10 sheets of paper, and is compatible with all iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch models running iOS 5.1 and up and Android-powered devices running OS 2.2 and up.
