Hamilton Sundstrand Team Honored at Annual Rotary National Award for Space Achievement Banquet
WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn., May 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hamilton Sundstrand's One EVA team was presented a Stellar Award in the Team Category at the recent 2010 annual Rotary National Award for Space Achievement (RNASA) banquet in Houston. Hamilton Sundstrand is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
The One EVA team – comprised of five companies: ILC Dover, United Space Alliance, Oceaneering International Inc., the Boeing Co. and led by Hamilton Sundstrand – provides NASA mission support for the spacesuit, and the tools and ancillary hardware needed to accomplish Extra-Vehicular Activity (spacewalks).
The One EVA team was recognized for its outstanding track record of successful spacewalks, which allowed NASA to complete International Space Station assembly, repair the Hubble Space Telescope and successfully operate the Space Shuttle. The team also allowed NASA to extend spacewalk capability on the International Space Station beyond shuttle retirement.
Stellar Awards recognize individual and team achievements from the government, military and industry. All nominations are reviewed by a Stellar Awards Evaluation Panel of scientists, engineers, managers and academicians who select winners based on accomplishments holding the greatest promise for furthering future space activities.
