Hamilton Mill's Pipeline H2O Program Wins Ohio Economic Development Association Award For Excellence in Economic Development Innovation
HAMILTON, Ohio, Oct. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hamilton Mill's Pipeline H2O program was recognized on Thursday, Oct. 19 at the 2017 Ohio Economic Development Association (OEDA) Annual Excellence Awards program in Columbus, Ohio. The Ohio Economic Development Association's Annual Excellence Awards program acknowledges the achievements of individuals and organizations in Ohio in the areas of economic and workforce development. The Pipeline H2O program was selected as the winner of the "Excellence in Economic Development Innovation" category. This is the second time in three years that The Hamilton Mill has been recognized by the OEDA for "Economic Development Innovation", having been recognized in 2014 for this prestigious award.
The Pipeline H2O program was launched in September 2016 with a mission of identifying and commercializing the world's leading water-based startup technologies in the world. Pipeline H2O is managed by The Hamilton Mill, a small business incubator located in Hamilton, Ohio that focuses on clean energy and advanced manufacturing technologies. The Hamilton Mill has a unique "City as a Lab" approach which enables companies to quickly engage with municipal departments to prototype and test their products.
The program is supported by a coalition of regional cities, utilities, universities, and startup organizations including Village Capital, United States Environmental Protection Agency, Cincinnati Water Works, Confluence, the University of Cincinnati's water center, Xavier University's Center for Innovation, the City of Cincinnati, the City of Hamilton, Cintrifuse and The Hamilton Mill.
Antony Seppi, Pipeline H2O Program Director, said, "This is a truly regional collaborative and we are honored to accept this award on behalf of all the partners and organizations that made this happen."
Pipeline H2O completed its first class in May 2017 by awarding $25,000 each to two companies. Several of the 2017 Pipeline H2O class members continue to work in the region and throughout the world to address water-related challenges faced by local businesses and public entities. More information about the 2017 Pipeline H2O Class is available here.
The program is actively recruiting water-tech startups to fill out its 2018 class. Applications are open until Nov. 19, 2017, and Pipeline H2O hopes to attract 8-10 startups for the 2018 class.
In addition to the 2017 OEDA award, Pipeline H2O was also recognized earlier this year by the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA - GCC) for "Program Excellence".
