Hamilton Lane Recognized as Top Global Company for the Professional Advancement of Women
BALA CYNWYD, Pa., Nov. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hamilton Lane, a leading global private markets asset management firm, today announced that it has been recognized as the global winner of the 2014 Advancing Women Company Award by the Philadelphia Business Journal and The Forum of Executive Women.
Each year, the Philadelphia Business Journal and The Forum of Executive Women, a membership organization for women of noteworthy influence across the Greater Philadelphia area, honor one global organization for the annual Advancing Women Company Award. This award is presented in recognition of the firm that has made a measurable and exemplary impact in advancing the professional growth and development of women in the workplace.
"At our core is a belief that in order to succeed, you need to attract and retain a uniquely talented and diverse workforce," said Mario Giannini, Chief Executive Officer of Hamilton Lane. "We serve an incredibly diversified set of institutions and we invest globally across a large asset class. In order to do both successfully, we value and require the diversity of opinion. In an asset class not exactly known for championing women, we've opted to take a different path."
This award recognizes Hamilton Lane's commitment to empowering women to succeed in the financial services industry. Today, women comprise 40% of the employee base and further account for 27% of all senior leadership roles at Hamilton Lane, including several investment committee members and department heads.
Hamilton Lane's support of its female colleagues is further demonstrated through a variety of specific initiatives, such as the Hamilton Lane Women's Exchange ("HLWe") - an internal networking community - as well as a globally-oriented mentoring program. The firm also offers a benefits package and work environment designed to support employees throughout their career and lives. Perhaps most importantly, the firm's commitment extends beyond benefits and programs, and speaks to the necessity of a workplace that embraces diversity and equality.
"We believe in creating an environment where all Hamilton Lane employees can thrive and excel," said Andrea Kramer, Managing Director, Investment Committee Member and head of Hamilton Lane's Global Fund Investment Team. "Our strong representation of women, and especially women in leadership roles, is unique and is not something that simply happens in this industry. It takes a belief and a commitment. At Hamilton Lane, women have always been part of the conversation."
Hamilton Lane was recognized at the 2014 Women of Distinction awards ceremony on November 18, at Vie in Philadelphia, PA.
