Halla Visteon Climate Control Wins Automotive News PACE Award for Product Innovation
Company recognized for patented metal seal fitting technology
DETROIT, April 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Halla Visteon Climate Control Corp. (HVCC) received the coveted Automotive News PACE Award in the product innovation category for its metal seal fitting at the 19th annual PACE Awards ceremony on Monday.
Each year, Automotive News honors automotive suppliers in the areas of superior innovation, technological advancement and business performance. Each product or process that is named a finalist is evaluated by an independent panel of judges from the automotive industry, as well as business leaders and academic experts, to determine the winners.
HVCC's first-to-market metal seal fitting has a seal structure that eliminates a significant source of refrigerant leakage, resists contamination during assembly, and meets current and future market requirements for alternative, environmentally friendly refrigerants. This innovative technology also qualifies for U.S. EPA leakage reduction credits, up to 0.49 g/mile CO2 per fitting.
"Winning this award confirms the significant achievements made by the team to bring this revolutionary product to market," said YH Park, HVCC president and CEO. "We are honored the industry concurs by presenting us with the prestigious PACE award."
Brian Sullivan, HVCC's president for the Americas, accepted the award on behalf of HVCC at the ceremony at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit.
HVCC also was recognized as a finalist in the manufacturing process category for its innovative method that uses a laser to improve the compressor assembly process between the shaft and swashplate. Among its benefits, this process creates an environmentally friendly solution that eliminates the need for harmful chemicals associated with traditional sandblasting and anodizing adhesion methods.
