Hal Geiogue Elected Chairman Of The California Student Aid Commission
Also elected, Ana Beltran as Vice-Chair and Brian Conley as Secretary
RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif., Nov. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The California Student Aid Commission has announced that Hal Geiogue has been elected as its new Chair. Commissioner Geiogue replaces John R. McDowell Jr. who spent 2 years as the Commission's Chair. Geiogue retired from state service as the Chief Consultant to the California Assembly Education Committee.
"California's Cal Grant program is a wise investment in our future. I am honored to have been elected chair of the commission that is leading this endeavor," said Geiogue. Chair Geiogue has been a Commissioner since his appointment by Governor Jerry Brown in November 2012. His experience includes service as the Assistant State Treasurer, Director of Education for the California Legislative Analyst's Office, and Department of Finance staff member. Chair Geiogue is also a Governor's appointee to the California ScholarShare Investment Board.
Chair Geiogue received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley and his Master of Arts in Government from Sacramento State University. He is a long-time Californian who lives in Sacramento.
The California Student Aid Commission is the state's principal agency that provides financial aid grants, policy analysis and leadership, in partnership with California's colleges, universities, financial institutions, and financial aid associations.
