Haier Helps You Find Your Cool
AC SmartSelector Helps You Select the Right AC for Your Needs
WAYNE, N.J., May 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the biggest challenges with keeping cool in the summer is choosing the right air conditioner for your needs. Haier is the source, and can guide consumers through the process of picking the right one.
"Buying an air conditioner is no longer just about BTUs," explains Tom Kelly, vice president of Sales and Marketing Integration, Home Comfort, for Haier America. "And the most common mistake people make when choosing an air conditioner is believing that a bigger unit means a cooler room, which isn't always the case. Often times an incorrectly sized unit does not properly condition the air; it also could waste energy/money."
The AC SmartSelector, available at www.haieramerica.com/find-your-cool allows consumers to find their ideal unit by focusing on room size, installation (wall mount, window), window size, heat and/or cool options and outlet capability.
Haier makes four types of room air conditioners to choose from:
- Portable Air Conditioners
- Window Air Conditioners
- Through-the-Wall Air Conditioners
- Ductless Mini-Split Air Conditioners
Portable air conditioners are great for use in smaller, enclosed areas like bedrooms or offices where local cooling is required. These units are very efficient and reliable, and they have the benefit of mobility. Most units are set on casters, allowing them to be easily rolled from room to room as needed. A portable air conditioner removes heat from the room and must be vented out of a window so that the hot air is released.
Window air conditioners are installed and secured in window frames and are meant to be kept there for the entire season. The biggest difference between portable and window units is that window air conditioners are stationary units, but can be removed from windows at any time to be stored after the season. Window air conditioners efficiently cool and dehumidify the air in the room for optimal comfort.
Through-the-wall air conditioners are designed to be installed through a wall inside a chassis sleeve. Through-the-wall ACs are very often used in apartment complexes.
Ductless mini-split system air conditioners place the condenser outside the building and the evaporator or air handler is installed on an inside wall. The units are connected by refrigerant tubing and electrical lines through a hole in the wall which can't be seen. The main advantages of mini-splits are their small size and flexibility for zoning or heating and cooling individual rooms. There is no need for duct work but a professional installation is required.
