HackerRank Releases HackerRank Jobs, Reinventing Technical Hiring to Bridge the Talent Gap
Uber, Box, Zenefits, and more use HackerRank Jobs to find and hire skilled developers faster
PALO ALTO, Calif., Jan. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- HackerRank, a platform that ranks engineers based on their coding skills and helps companies discover talent faster, today released HackerRank Jobs, the first job search app that connects companies with skilled software engineers while offering engineers a guaranteed response from companies within five business days.
"It's exciting to see that I can now source qualified candidates so easily, especially those who are hard to discover with today's sourcing tools," said Mat Connot, Staffing Director, VMware.
Recruiters say it typically takes months to hire just one engineer, but the HackerRank Jobs app can cut that time to just days. The HackerRank Jobs app obliterates the colloquial "resume black hole" not only by guaranteeing a response from companies but also by allowing candidates to see the average time a company takes to respond to an application before they apply. Recruiters can see the top performing candidates' code challenge scores, providing a much stronger evaluation tool for companies.
Reports estimate that one million computing jobs will go unfilled by 2020 based on the number of people with computer science degrees. These projections overlook many skilled engineers who are self-taught or graduate with a different degree.
"We are connecting previously undiscovered developers to companies in the same way that Airbnb found a new way to connect millions of travellers to the homeowners who need their business. Or in the same way Uber uncovered a new way to connect riders and car owners," said Vivek Ravisankar, co-founder and CEO of HackerRank. "We are reinventing the way that engineers apply to jobs."
A Unique, Developer-focused Approach
To apply to a job, engineers can request a code challenge from companies with just one click on the mobile app. Candidates then solve the code challenge and share their availability for interviews. Companies have up to five days to schedule an interview with the top-performing engineers, and candidates who do not pass the hiring bar are notified. Hence, applicants are guaranteed to know whether or not they move onto the next round.
With benefits like guaranteed five-day response times, automated skill-based code challenges, direct Q&A with engineering managers, and salary transparency, HackerRank Jobs speeds up the process of finding, evaluating, and hiring engineers.
Availability
The HackerRank Jobs mobile app is available now in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, as well as on the HackerRank website. Developers can currently search for jobs in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, and Bangalore, India. Additional regions will be available by the end of March 2016.
HackerRank Jobs is the first product release from the company's expanded leadership team, as the company scales its product, growth, engineering, and operations teams. Recent additions include Chief Operating Officer Grady Burnett, VP of Product David Park, Head of Talent Scott Gilfoil, and senior engineer Ahmed Aly.
