An initiative supported by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and funded via a federal College Access Challenge Grant, Generation TX (GenTX) is a statewide, grassroots movement committed to creating what's next for Texas: a culture of college and career readiness that leads to the most successful generation ever. On Friday, May 4th, Generation TX asks everyone in Texas to celebrate GenTX Day by wearing their favorite college T-shirts in a united show of support for building a college-going culture that encourages Texas students to continue their education beyond high school.
"We're talking about shifting a culture, and that means that students and families have to get this message about the importance of higher education not only in school, but everywhere they go" says Texas Higher Education Commissioner Raymund Paredes. "H-E-B has always been a strong supporter of the communities it serves and of education in particular. I am extremely gratified, as are the members of our Board, at this strong show of support by H-E-B for the students of Generation TX."
