GYMCL's Engines Support Sochi Winter Olympics
- More Than 10,000 GYMCL Engines Operating in Russia -
SINGAPORE, Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- China Yuchai International Limited (NYSE: CYD) ("China Yuchai" or the "Company"), announced today that engines from the Company's main operating subsidiary, Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Company Limited ("GYMCL"), were used in various applications to build the infrastructure for the Sochi Winter Olympic Games which is currently underway.
Pavers and loaders using GYMCL engines were used to pave roads and in the construction of the stadiums and heavy-duty trucks propelled by GYMCL engines provided the necessary transportation for the movement of goods and materials. The ability of GYMCL's engines to operate in extreme weather and in less than optimal conditions such as in alpine areas and tunnel building applications, made them the engine of choice.
GYMCL's engines were also used to support the 2013 Summer Universiade, officially known as the XXVII Summer Universiade, which was held in the city of Kazan, Russia in July 2013. This event which was organized by the International University Sports Federation and by the authorities of the Republic of Tatarstan, featured over 10,400 university athletes from 162 countries as well as various cultural events.
