Guma and Jamie Aguiar Continue Partnership With Chabad: Make Last Minute Passover Gift to Chabad-Lubavitch Headquarters
Gift Honors Maimonides' Birthday, 14 Nissan
LOS ANGELES, April 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As Jewish people everywhere complete their last-minute preparations for the Seder Monday night, Chabad is rushing to dot the "i"s and cross the "t"s on its agenda—bringing the festival and the spirit of redemption to Jewish people near and far.
A surprise gift by Guma and Jamie Aguiar, continuing their partnership with Chabad, has put more spring into these final touches.
Typically an intense and demanding time of year at Chabad-Lubavitch Headquarters, the days and hours before Passover reach a kind of crescendo, with "the demands on our resources squeezed to what seems like its limit, always in the hours, even minutes before Pesach," said Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky.
But it is at times like these, he acknowledges, "when we are down to the wire, that we are blessed from Above with an unexpected gift of kindness and generosity that tides us over and makes the difference."
Rabbi Krinsky is referring to a call he received from Mr. Aguiar yesterday to congratulate him on being named by Newseek, Number 1 of the 50 Most Influential Rabbis for the second year in a row, and offered to make his own gift in honor of the occasion.
"The Aguiars' generous gift to Chabad is a G-dsend at a moment like this, and will allow so many to enter this great Jewish holiday with lighter hearts."
Speaking with lubavitch.com, Mr. Aguiar said, "It's my way of fulfilling the opening lines of the Hagaddah for the Seder tonight—'All who are hungry—come and eat. All who are needy—come and join the celebration.' I'm honored that G-d has made it possible for me to partner with Chabad and enhance the celebration, as the Rebbe taught us."
