Gulf Coast Oil Spill Cleanup Workers: Receive No Cost Medical Review by Dr. Greg Vigna, MD, JD
The Life Care Solutions Group has launched a new portal to help BP Gulf Coast oil spill cleanup workers who were injured while working on the 2010 disaster.
HOUSTON, June 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Three years after the 2010 massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, numerous Gulf Coast residents, business owners, and cleanup response workers are still feeling the effects of the disaster. A new online portal has been launched to help those Gulf Coast Oil Spill cleanup workers have suffered, and continue to suffer from the damage caused by toxic chemicals used in the cleanup operation.

Dr Michael Robichaux, a Louisiana physician and former state senator says these are the same symptoms experienced by soldiers who returned from the Persian Gulf War with Gulf War syndrome.
As a general practitioner, Robichaux says he had "never seen this grouping of symptoms together: skin problems, neurological impairments, plus pulmonary problems".
Only months later, after Kaye H Kilburn, one of the nation's leading environmental health experts, came to Louisiana and tested 14 of Robichaux's patients did the two physicians make the connection with Gulf War syndrome, the malady that afflicted an estimated 250,000 veterans of that war.
Cleanup workers attracted by their civic duty and the prospect of higher wages than what they might have received in jobs like picking fruit, washing dishes or factory piece work poured into the Gulf Coast from around the nation. "Their expectations were high, but what they didn't expect was far more sinister. The chemicals used caused health problems that will cost them far more than they could have earned in the cleanup operation," says Dr. Greg Vigna.
That is why The Life Care Solutions Group has developed a resource for those injured BP oil spill workers seeking information about their medical and legal options.
BP Gulf Oil Spill Help Desk
Many people are unaware that in addition to the massive toxic exposure caused by the release of 4.9 million barrels of oil into the Gulf, exposure to the hazardous chemicals used in the subsequent cleanup has harmed workers who have allegedly suffered health problems related to the cleanup operations such as:
- Skin conditions such as serious outbreaks of rashes
- Respiratory problems
- Chronic eye infections
- Problems of the ear, nose, or throat
These conditions were outlined in a report called "Deadly Dispersants in the Gulf: Are Public Health and Environmental Tragedies the New Norm for Oil Spill Cleanups?" which was released April 19, 2013 by the Government Accountability Project (more information: http://www.climatesciencewatch.org/2013/04/19/corexit-deadly-dispersant-in-oil-spill-cleanup)
By visiting the new BP Gulf Oil Spill Help Desk, individuals can obtain a free medical case evaluation as well as information about their eligibility to file a claim for compensation from the proposed BP oil spill disaster settlement fund. The fund will be set-aside for cleanup workers that have been adversely affected by the spill and the cleanup.
