Guggenheim Partners Appoints Henry R. Silverman as a Senior Advisor and Vice Chairman of its Investment Management Business
NEW YORK, March 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Guggenheim Partners, a diversified financial services firm, today announced that it has appointed Henry R. Silverman as a Senior Advisor and Vice Chairman of its investment management business, effective March 16, 2012. Mr. Silverman will be based in the firm's New York office and will play an instrumental role in advising Guggenheim's investment management business on its strategic development and growth initiatives. Mr. Silverman joins Guggenheim from Apollo Global Management, where he served as a Director and Vice Chairman of the Board and Member of the Executive Committee, and as its Chief Operating Officer from 2009 to 2011.

From 1990 to 2007, Mr. Silverman served as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Cendant Corporation and its predecessor HFS, as well as its successor company Realogy. Earlier in his career, Mr. Silverman served as chief investment officer at Blackstone Capital Partners I from 1989-1991, and Reliance Capital Group from 1982-1989.
Mr. Silverman is actively involved in several community and philanthropic initiatives. He was awarded the American Heritage Award from the Anti-Defamation League for Lifetime Achievement in fighting discrimination and was honored for his efforts in promoting diversity in the workplace by the Jackie Robinson Foundation and the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Silverman currently serves as a Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Chairman of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and a Trustee of the New York University Langone Medical Center. He received a B.A. from Williams College and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and he served as a legal officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
