Providing small- and medium-sized foreign trade firms with support services
On May 12, the Bureau of Commerce of Dongguan City, Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau and Dongguan Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Bureau jointly opened the Foreign Trade Transformation and Upgrading Support Services Center in the city. The overseas media communications platform, established by Guangdong Innovation Technology Media Service Center, started service on the same day, offering foreign trade firms in Dongguan a new and quality overseas promotion and marketing channel for expanding in the international market.
As Dongguan has been one of the cities that has always been at the forefront of the latest transformation in the profile of China's foreign trade, the call to build a public service platform to keep Dongguan at the forefront of the current transformation has never been louder. To meet that call, the city built the Support Services Center to mainly serve small and medium-sized firms based on a successful model whereby the public and private sector jointly collaborate to roll out a project gathering together the best resources available in mainland China as well as in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Priority will be given to public resources and institutions who can best provide assistance in industrial design, productivity improvement guidance and service outsourcing at the center, in a move to offer a "one-stop" service for product R&D, industrial design, brand building, productivity improvement guidance, venture capital investment and personnel training.
The local finance bureau will provide capital support totaling nearly 10 million yuan (approx. US$1.6 million) to the center during the first three years of operation. The capital will be used to fund rental of facilities, platform building, administration fees, daily promotion and operation as well as rewards for the best performing organizations.
