"We applaud the recently issued Office of Management and Budget (OMB) memo that addresses federal data center consolidation initiatives through leveraging best practices in areas including cost, security and efficiency. We have been working with government agencies to put programs in place to help them increase the efficiency of their data centers by reducing costs, saving energy, and better utilizing existing resources – human as well as hardware and software," said Mohamed Elrefai, GTSI's VP Enterprise Solutions Group and Marketing. "By helping our customers streamline their infrastructures for the past three years, they are able to move to technologies like cloud computing and virtualization as a natural step towards providing a secure computing environment while at the same time making the most efficient and cost-effective uses of the resources that already exist."
Mr. Elrefai pointed out that most recently; VMWare gave GTSI its "Federal Partner of the Year" award for 2009. Moreover, in 2009, Cisco named GTSI its "Public Sector Data Center Partner of the Year" and GTSI garnered Citrix's 2009 "Gold partner of the Year" award as well.
"These awards not only show GTSI's commitment to its customers and partners, but affirm that GTSI is a leader in both virtualization and consolidation efforts," said Mr. Elrefai.
To help customers further understand how to better utilize their infrastructure, GTSI has created a Technology Leadership Series consisting of half-day seminars, featuring government and industry leaders presenting case studies and discussing industry trends and best practices. The seminars attract between 100 and 200 high level government technology focused attendees to listen and interact with subject matter experts who share relevant market information. The next seminar will be held on May 12 at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel and offer a Practical Roadmap to OMB Compliance for Consolidation.
Additionally, in conjunction with the Government Business Council, GTSI has recently concluded a survey of federal IT professionals on the impact of virtualization on government. The survey results will be released in April and discussed at the May 12 seminar.
"We are proud to be able to help our customers fulfill the OMB mandates through educational programs and by functioning as the systems integrator that can pull together enterprise technologies to streamline their infrastructure and save them real dollars," concluded Mr. Elrefai.
