GTEC Secures $48 Million Contract to Provide Expeditionary Field Kitchens to the U.S. Marine Corps
MCLEAN, Va., Dec. 27, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Defense Technology & Systems, Inc.(Nasdaq: GTEC), a provider of mission-critical, technology-based systems, solutions and services for national security agencies and programs of the U.S. government, today announced that the company has secured a $48 million contract to provide Expeditionary Field Kitchens (EFK) to the United States Marine Corps (USMC). The five-year contract calls for GTEC to provide a maximum of 150 EFKs and includes initial orders totaling over $21 million. GTEC expects revenue from the initial orders to be generated in 2011 and 2012 with the remaining funding to be received over the contract's five-year duration.
Designed to provide deployed Warfighters with the advantage of daily, fresh meals, the EFK is a completely self-contained, rugged and transportable commercial grade kitchen with the ability to provide troops with 500 meals, three times per day. To date, GTEC has delivered almost 800 field feeding systems to the U.S. military and those systems are currently deployed in places such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Korea and Germany.
