GTEC Receives $26 Million Contract to Support the U.S. Army's Expeditionary Requirements in Afghanistan
MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Defense Technology & Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: GTEC), a provider of mission-critical, technology-based systems, solutions and services for national security agencies and programs of the U.S. government, today announced that the company has secured a $26 million contract to provide camp solutions to the U.S. Army to support their expeditionary force sustainment needs in Afghanistan. This award follows GTEC's September 15 announcement that the company secured a $37M contract to provide similar systems to the U.S. Army.
Under this contract, GTEC will deliver Expeditionary Tricon Systems (ETS) incorporating the latest advances in approved shower water re-use technology. GTEC anticipates that delivery of the systems will begin in the fourth quarter of 2010 and continue into 2011.
With a military that is more expeditionary than ever before, GTEC's camp solutions are designed to provide rapidly deployable support for U.S. troops operating at home and overseas. Housed in an expandable shelter, each camp system features a modular design which allows the unit to be used in a variety of health and welfare support configurations. The systems are light-weight, rugged, easily transportable, require a minimal two-person set up and can be fully functional in just 45 minutes.
John Hillen, President & CEO, commented on the order, "As a dedicated mission-partner, we are pleased to help the U.S. Army meet their urgent force mobility and modernization needs by leveraging our agile engineering processes and expertise to deliver another set of expeditionary systems to enhance the health and welfare of forward deployed troops."
All work will be performed at GTEC's integration facilities in Easton and Frederick, Maryland.
