GSA Administrator Johnson to Join Colorado Workers and Local Small Business to Survey Denver Recovery Act Progress, Job Creation at One-Year Mark
Administration Officials Visit over 35 Communities Nationwide to Call for Building on Recovery Act Success with Action on Additional Job Creation Measures
WASHINGTON, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As the Recovery Act crosses the one-year mark tomorrow, GSA Administrator Martha Johnson will join workers at the Denver Federal Center to survey Recovery Act progress to-date and continue the Administration's push for additional job creation measures to put more people back to work. Administration Officials will visit 35 communities across the country, participating in events that will be held in more than 25 states and feature local workers and local elected officials.
GSA is investing $114 million in Recovery Act funds to make the 623-acre Denver Federal Center campus more energy- and water-efficient and install 35 additional acres of solar panels. The Denver Federal Center modernization project is one of hundreds of Recovery Act construction projects in Colorado, and one of the largest in the Denver area. This event will be held at an active construction site, where workers are making improvements to the campus utilities and a local small business is preparing to install nearly 15,000 solar panels.
