Grupo Aeromexico Reports Nine Percent Year-on-Year Increase in March Passenger Numbers
MEXICO CITY, April 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Grupo Aeromexico S.A.B de C.V. ("Aeromexico") (BMV: AEROMEX), the largest intercontinental airline in Mexico, reports operating statistics for March 2012.
Grupo Aeromexico transported one million 259 thousand passengers in March; a 9% year-on-year increase compared to March 2011, resulting from a 10% increase in international passenger traffic and a 9% increase in domestic passenger traffic. The total number of passengers reached three million 559 thousand in the first quarter 2012; a 10% year-on-year increase, with a 16% increase in international passenger traffic and an 8% increase in domestic passenger traffic.
Grupo Aeromexico's capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometers (ASK's), increased 6% year-on-year in March, and demand, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPK's), grew 7%. As a result, the load factor for the month increased 0.5 percentage points, to reach a total of 77.9%.
In the first quarter of the year, ASKs increased 7% and the RPKs increased 9%. Therefore, the load factor increased 1.4 percentage points reaching 76.9%.

According to the latest report published by the DGAC (Direccion General de Aeronautica Civil – Mexico's National Aviation Authority), in February, Grupo Aeromexico controlled 42% of the domestic market and 12% of the international market for 2012. In the first two months of the year, Grupo Aeromexico's overall market share increased two points year-over-year, with 26% accrued market share, with 41% of the domestic market and 13% of the international market.
