"North Memorial has provided primary care to the Minnetonka area for more than a decade at our Ridgedale clinic," said J. Kevin Croston, president of provider and outpatient services and chief medical officer. "We are very proud of our connection with this community and look forward to expanding access to care for patients in the west metro area."
The new Minnetonka Medical Center is conveniently located along Highway 7, west of I-494 and will offer a collaborative care model consisting of the following:
- Primary Care
- Specialty Care
- Urgency Center
- Lab
- Imaging
"The Minnetonka Medical Center is a convenient, one-stop resource for primary, specialty, emergency and diagnostic care for the entire family," explains Croston. "Right now families in Minnetonka and the surrounding communities are traveling several miles for emergency care. Our facility will be staffed with board-certified ER Physicians and is just minutes away. We're also a convenient resource for annual exams, as well as preventative care."
The 63,000 square-foot facility in Minnetonka will house North Memorial's second Urgency Center. Its first location in Blaine opened in April. The new Urgency Center in Minnetonka Medical Center will be a fully-equipped emergency department staffed by board-certified ER physicians from North Memorial's Level I Trauma Center. It will have much of the same capabilities as a hospital emergency department and will treat patients with serious medical conditions such as chest pain, sports injuries, kidney stones, fractures, cardiac arrest, pneumonia, abdominal pain and concussions.
The Urgency Center will operate much like a hospital emergency room except that it won't accept ambulances and it won't be open 24 hours a day. However, The Urgency Center will be open 12 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Minnetonka Medical Center is set to be completed third quarter of 2014.
