Ground Labs Cardholder Data Security for Hotels at HITEC 2012
BALTIMORE, June 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Ground Labs, a global leader in the development of security and auditing software solutions for the payment card industry (PCI), will present as a HITEC 2012 Exhibitor from June 26 - 28 in Baltimore.
The Verizon 2012 Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) released earlier this year confirmed that the industry suffering the greatest number of data breaches was the Accommodation and Food Services Industry. Ground Labs' flagship products, Card Recon and Enterprise Recon, have helped reducing the risk of a data breach occurring within thousands of computer systems worldwide, including those residing within hotels from many of the leading global brands.
"PCI compliance is a high priority issue for hotels, and we want to help educate them on the dangers of cardholder data storage that commonly occurs within a hotel environment," says Stephen Cavey, Director of Corporate Development. "Our sponsorship of HITEC 2012 is an excellent opportunity to help IT and risk professionals in the hospitality industry learn about the strategies that help hotels achieve compliance with PCI data security standards without disrupting their business operations."
The annual event, organized by Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP), is the world's largest hospitality technology show. The annual event brings together professionals involved in financial management, revenue management and information technology within the hospitality industry.
Mr. Cavey's HITEC 2012 Exhibitor Tutorial session, titled "How many thousand credit cards hide on your hotel systems?" was created in recognition of the fact that hotels are being actively targeted by hackers for guest credit card data.
"Within many hotels, it is alarmingly common to find large volumes of guest credit card data within office documents, emails, reservation systems and many other unsafe locations," says Mr. Cavey. "Our presentation will discuss the problem in detail and outline ways the hospitality industry can easily identify and eliminate this risk to avoid being the next cardholder data compromise headline."
Mr. Cavey will speak on Wednesday, June 27 from 10:30-11:00 in the HITEC 2012 Exhibit Hall in the Baltimore Convention Center. Ground Labs will also have a manned exhibit displaying live demonstrations of the company's leading cardholder data discovery products, Card Recon and Enterprise Recon. The exhibit is available at booth #316.
