Ground Labs Announces Enterprise Cardholder Data Discovery Software for PCI Compliance
SYDNEY, Nov. 5, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Last week, the PCI Security Standards Council released the latest version of its compliance standards as part of the continuing global battle to improve the security of cardholder data and reduce corporate security breaches which have impacted millions of consumers worldwide. Today, Ground Labs announces the release of Enterprise Recon, a PCI compliance software solution designed to search for the existence of unencrypted cardholder data storage and enable organizations to become compliant with the new PCI DSS v2.0, thus ensuring customers' cardholder data is protected.
Even the most stringent corporate data storage policies can be compromised by simple oversight. Human process errors commonly made by administrative, engineering and software development teams can result in tremendous breaches of confidential information, with more than 100 million credit and debit card numbers compromised over the past three years alone. Payment card schemes and their member financial institutions are placing increased pressure upon corporations of all sizes to improve their cardholder data storage practices and protect consumers from fraud by achieving and maintaining PCI compliance.
Ground Labs, the creator of Card Recon, is an industry leader in PCI compliance solutions. Its newest PCI software solution, Enterprise Recon, is designed to help organizations reduce the likelihood of cardholder data breaches and achieve compliance with the recently revised Data Security Standard, PCI DSS v2.0.
In the same way enterprise-level antivirus systems scan computers for viruses and trojans, Enterprise Recon follows a similar technique to discover stored cardholder data within all types of documents, emails and application data files. The centralized Enterprise Recon Master Server then compiles all the findings into an easily readable reporting format that is stored on a central management platform to present a consolidated view of all non-compliant findings across an organization.
"The industry's overwhelmingly positive response to Card Recon since its original release has allowed us to focus on the development of a PCI compliance solution for enterprise customers that delivers the power of Card Recon in a network distributed manner," says Stephen Cavey, Director of Corporate Development at Ground Labs. "Enterprise Recon builds on our expertise and enables organizations to achieve a single view of all non-compliant cardholder data storage within a central reporting framework."
"Advanced enterprise-wide searches for sensitive data were previously available only through the deployment of hardware appliance solutions," says Peter Duthie, Chief Architect of Ground Labs. "Enterprise Recon enables accurate discovery of cardholder data storage by applying our proven cardholder data detection algorithms across an entire network, while maximizing accuracy and minimizing false positives."
An existing Ground Labs customer, TSO (The Stationery Office), part of the Williams Lea Group, located in London, UK, has achieved great success in deploying Enterprise Recon within its network environment. "The centralized visibility and control offered by Enterprise Recon has reduced the effort required to monitor and maintain our PCI compliance program," says Tony Jackson, PCI Project Manager at TSO. "Enterprise Recon has provided us with the levels of accuracy that we need to ensure no unsafe data storage practices exist within our environment."
Enterprise Recon cardholder data discovery scans can be performed on Windows, Linux, Solaris, IBM AIX and HP-UX platforms. Detailed product information and access to a live product demonstration are available online at http://www.groundlabs.com or through the Ground Labs partner network.
