CHICAGO, Dec. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Groove Health is pleased to announce the launch of its AI-powered mobile app to help Payers and Health Systems improve medication adherence in their chronic disease populations. The Groove Health app is powered by Maxwell, a medication-focused chatbot that provides personalized adherence interventions based on hundreds of data points. Maxwell uses AI engagement to interact with users, answer their questions about medications, and address their unique barriers to adherence. In addition to Maxwell, the mobile app includes easy-to-use medication management features to help users stay on track with their daily medications.
"Our company is built on the idea that non-adherence to medications is a behavioral issue that requires tailored and personalized interventions," said Andrew Hourani, Groove Health's Founder & CEO. "We recognized that artificial intelligence can play a key role in identifying and addressing the root causes of medication non-adherence, which is why we created Maxwell and our AI-powered mobile app."
The Groove Health mobile app is available now for free download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Users who download the app as part of an Insurance or System-sponsored program will have access to enhanced features, a more interactive version of Maxwell, and customized content on behalf of the program's sponsor.
The mobile offering adds a new patient engagement component to Groove Health's comprehensive adherence platform, which includes a predictive analytics engine.
"With the addition of this new engagement solution, we're able to offer Payers and Health Systems a differentiated, end-to-end adherence offering that starts with identification of non-adherent patients and ends with personalized interventions for the right patients, at the right times," said Hourani.
The mobile app is available for download here.
Each year in the U.S., poor medication adherence is estimated to cause 30-50% of treatment failures, 125,000 deaths, and up to $300 billion of avoidable healthcare spending. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ("CMS") and the National Committee for Quality Assurance ("NCQA") incorporate medication adherence measures in their Star Ratings programs, which measure health plans' performance on important dimensions of care and service.
