Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Griffin Gate Golf Club

LEXINGTON, Ky., May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its Griffin Gate Golf Club this month. The hotel in Lexington, KY, will be looking back on the 30-year history of the golf course that has been transformed from a cattle farm into a prestigious, award-winning golf club.    

When the course originally opened, a majority of the land was utilized as a cattle and dairy farm with another tract of land that served as an area to raise Arabian horses. Famed architect Rees Jones began designing the course into what is now an 18-hole championship golf course.

More than 750,000 golfers have experienced a memorable round of golf on the course, including professional golfers. The Lexington lodging hotel has hosted the Senior PGA Tour and more than 300,000 local golf fundraisers and resort group events.
